How much does a visit to the GP Out-of-Hours Service cost?27 March 2026 at 14:28:43 GMT

Rates (as of 1 January 2026):

  • Consultation at the GP out-of-hours service: €195.92
  • House call: €293.88
  • Telephone consultation: €35.00
  • (Repeat) prescription: £35.00

All health insurers reimburse these treatments. These are not deducted from your own risk.

I have only had telephone contact with the triage nurse. Why am I still receiving a bill?16/02/2026 17:03:06

We must charge for all consultations in which a medical opinion is given.

This happens when insurance details are unknown or incorrect. You can get in touch by calling 035 203 16 68 or by using the complaints form.

Will my contact with the GP Out-of-Hours Service be recorded in my medical records?16/02/2026 17:03:06

Yes, conversations are recorded and a medical report is sent to your GP. The conversations are kept for a maximum of five years, after which they are destroyed.

Do GP out-of-hours service employees have access to my medical records?16/02/2026 17:03:06

Explicit consent is required. Sharing (part of) your medical data can be of great importance for your treatment at the GP Out of Hours Service.

Where can I collect medicines prescribed by the GP out-of-hours service?16/02/2026 17:03:06

The pharmaceutical emergency care is provided by the on-site pharmacy at Tergooi MC.

Can I get a repeat prescription through the GP Out-of-Hours Service?16/02/2026 17:03:06

In urgent cases, the on-call GP can issue a repeat prescription as a bridging prescription. Additional charges apply outside of office hours.

Can the GP come to me if I have no transport?16/02/2026 17:03:06

In principle, no. The GP on duty will only visit you in situations where the request for help and medical necessity warrant it.

Will I be seen straight away at the surgery?16/02/2026 17:03:06

You will receive an estimated time, but may have to wait longer. Urgent patients are given priority. It is often busy, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, and waiting times can increase.

Why does a triage nurse ask so many questions?16/02/2026 17:03:06

This is necessary to assess the urgency of your situation and determine how quickly and by whom you should be helped.
