If a fracture was seen on the photo, you have been referred to A&E and will be treated further through them.

Is nothing broken? If so, the body part is bruised. No further treatment is needed. You may then go home, you will be told by the radiographer taking the X-ray. The next day, another doctor (the hospital radiologist) will take another look at the photo.

Very occasionally, the radiologist may still see something on your X-ray. If necessary, your own GP will call you about this. Your own GP is always informed that you have visited the GP Emergency Department. Your own GP will also always receive the results of the X-ray.

Contact your own GP if the symptoms have not clearly subsided within 5 to 7 days.
