How much does a visit to the GP Out-of-Hours Service cost?
All contact with the GP Out-of-Hours Service costs money. A telephone consultation also costs money. Basic health insurance covers the costs of the GP and of contact with the GP Out-of-Hours Service. This does not count towards your excess.
Are you insured? Then the bill will be sent directly to your health insurer.
If you are uninsured or cannot provide identification, you will need to pay the cost of the consultation directly during your visit to the GP Out-of-Hours Service. Payment can only be made by debit card, and this must be done prior to your appointment. You will then receive a payment receipt, which you can submit to your health insurer yourself.
The rates from 1 January 2026 are:
- Telephone consultation: €35.00
- Consultation at the GP out-of-hours service: €195.92
- House call: €293.88
- (Repeat) prescription: £35.00
